CIRCUS MAXIMUS EXPLAINED & MAKING OF:

The first volume of the "Official bootleg series" comes directly from The Hermit's Hole era - meaning fall 2019 or so.
While recording that album, I had a vision of racing and fighting Games in Ancient Rome, filtered through the cinematic tones of kolossals like "Ben Hur" and "Demetrius and the gladiators".
The result was an EP of traditional Epic Dungeon Synth, locked in my archive until now.
What I especially wanted here was a really "distant" mix and an amount of harmonic minor scales, weird time-signatures and other tricks that could suggest a genuine ancient, dark vibe.

I obviously thank the 80s tyrants of Epic Heavy Metal: MANOWAR, CIRITH UNGOL, MANILLA ROAD, VIRGIN STEELE, WARLORD.
