"Bogatyrs" ("богатырь", literally "Champion") were the mighty knights of venture of the ancient Russia. Four of them were the most famous: Svjatogor the Giant, also called the "Titan of the Steppes"; Ilya Muromets was the strongest and the bravest, and we cannot forget about Alëša Popovič and Dobrynja Nikitič, for their epic victories against Dragons! Honorable mention goes to Sadko, the "sailor bard", the Novgorod-native romantic warrior!
The inspiration for this album came from books of Russian folklore as well as epic movies from the Soviet Era and paintings by V.Vasnecov, K.Vasiljev and N.Roerich.
What you'll listen here is a heroic-fantasy-music translation of those high adventures and sagas... May this album inspire your own research of Russian Myths and Legends!
